Date:1846

Description:'The Master's House of the Grammar School at Kinver, Staffordshire.' This appears to be a 16th century half-timbered hosue plastered over, and to have the depth of three bays (gables), so perhaps room or boarders. A late Georgian iron-work porch has been added [?1810]. It stands at the corner of Dark Lane and Church Hill. Artist: J. Buckler.

Originally built as the school house, it became the Master's House in 1820-1 when the new school building was built to the north-east. The school closed in 1916 and the master's house was also known as Clifford's Cottage. In 1982 it became a private residence known as the Old Grammar School House.
