Description:North east view of the front of the hall, showing a Jacobean building with steps, a balustrade, and a low roof. Inscribed 'To the Worspll. the generous and much honoured Gent. MICHAEL BIDDULPH of ELMHURST Esq. This 2nd. Table Shewing the N. E. Front of ELMHURT HALL as a pledg of my gratitude for receivi'd favours is humbly dedicated by, R.P.L.L.D.'.

The Biddulph family owned the Elmhurst estate by 1571 and remained there until it was sold to Samuel Swinfen in 1754. The hall was demolished in 1804 and rebuilt in an Elizabethan style by John Smith.
